CORONA, Calif. (CNS) — The eastbound 91 Freeway in downtown Corona was reopened Sunday afternoon, greater than a dozen hours forward of schedule, as crews continued their resurfacing work.
The complete eastbound closure began at 10 p.m. Friday between Lincoln Avenue and Principal Avenue, with all 5 lanes initially anticipated to be out of service till 5 a.m. Monday, in keeping with the Riverside County Transportation Fee.
Officers stated that the third weekend closure was required for ongoing operations linked to the $12.6 million “91 Refresh Venture,” which entails resurfacing lanes, modifying retaining partitions and repairing concrete obstacles on each side of the 91.
Earlier closures occurred through the weekends of Sept. 16-19 and Sept. 30-Oct. 3.
Crews re-paved lanes and made different adjustments, officers stated.
The mission is predicted to wrap up by December. It wasn’t instantly recognized whether or not extra shutdowns could be required between every now and then.
Motorists can get up-to-date info on the closure at www.rctc.org/91refresh.
