The eastbound 91 Freeway in downtown Corona was reopened Sunday afternoon, greater than a dozen hours forward of schedule, as crews continued their resurfacing work.
The complete eastbound closure began at 10 p.m. Friday between Lincoln Avenue and Predominant Road, with all 5 lanes initially anticipated to be out of service till 5 a.m. Monday, in keeping with the Riverside County Transportation Fee.
Officers mentioned that the third weekend closure was required for ongoing operations related to the $12.6 million “91 Refresh Mission,” which entails resurfacing lanes, modifying retaining partitions and repairing concrete boundaries on each side of the 91.
Earlier closures occurred through the weekends of Sept. 16-19 and Sept. 30-Oct. 3. Crews re-paved lanes and made different modifications, officers mentioned.
The mission is predicted to wrap up by December. It wasn’t instantly recognized whether or not further shutdowns is perhaps required between from time to time.
